This mare is an awesome trail horse for
almost anyone. She goes anywhere, crosses water, bridges, is used to
wildlife. She has been on mixed use trails with ATVs and never flinches
when meeting them. She will lead the pack, go in the middle or
contentedly follow behind. She is polite with other horses on the trail:
no kicking or even laying back of the ears. She is surefooted on any
kind of terrain. She has been on 3 overnight multi-day camping trips in
2007, and knows how to be on the picket line.
Her personality is a lovable, huggable
family horse. She comes when you call her from the pasture. Two or 3
grandchildren can sit on her back and be led around for a ride. When I
started her under saddle, she let me get on as if nothing new was going
on. All she needed was to learn what I wanted from her. She only needed
to be "tweaked" a little to learn to be ridden. So, her barn name is
Tweak!
She is traffic safe, my farrier loves her,
she loads easily. She is trained western style. She would be a good
field trial horse, is suitable for competitive trail competition or
would be a good 4H project horse.
She is used to living on pasture with her
horse buddies and a run-in shed.
Are there any negatives with this horse?
Just one: If ridden past a herd of cows and the cows come running toward
her, she is terrified of them.
No Fear Merry is a
Heritage Society out cross on
her dam's side.
