Ultimate trail horse. General Lee will
take you safely through the toughest trail with his agility and
sense. All day endurance and ground covering gaits to take you down
the trail and get you where you want to go. Big stride in his walk
and working walk, will drop his head and do a running walk with head
nod, bring his head up and speed into a smooth rack, and extend into
a rhythmic canter. Neck reins lightly, nice head carriage on a loose
rein, and refined head make him one of the prettiest horses on the
ride with power steering. Once he gets to know his rider he is so
responsive you think he's reading your mind. Walks right onto
trailer with no fuss and travels great. Calm in new areas and stays
overnight with no problems. Easy to saddle, parks out from the
ground or saddle to mount if needed. Great for the farrier and vet,
up to date on vaccinations.
Experience at field trials with dogs
and guns, can road a dog from him (put dog on a 20 foot rope and run
the dog for exercise), pony another horse from him, let dog ride in
the saddle with you, carry bird bag on him, etc. Great for scouting
a lost dog, judging from, handling a dog. Rides out by himself or
with group. I also use him when breaking young horses, ponying them
on a trail ride to get them use to the trail. General Lee gives them
confidence since he enjoys the trail and is not spooky. He tolerates
the pulls and bumps from them and really seems to enjoy it, many
times hanging out in the pasture with them afterwards. He also loves
new colts, will stay near the mother and foal and keep other pasture
mates from crowding them.
He is not for the occasional rider but
for someone who enjoys a challenging trail on a responsive,
surefooted equine partner who enjoys getting out and exploring too! |
